Battle of Songhai 1580

My mate Timo was in the holidays in Spain where he visited a toy-soldier museum.
He sent over a lot of photos from this tour - all very interesting.

And as you know I like the lesser known stuff - so this here was a must for me to show!

Thanks Timo for it!

The charge of the cows is something special eh? :-)

Spanish artillery painted by Massimo

One of my favorite sets in our range is the Spanish artillery 1808-09. I like this campaign of which I haven't see much dioramas so far.

Last week Massimo sent me these photos. He want's to show the vignette at an exhibition.

Some Austrians from Uwe Ehmke

When we created our Aspern-Diorama in 2009 I asked my hobbyfriend Uwe Ehmke to sculpt me some figures.

While he is a good sculptor the quality of his casting wasn't the best so far. In the meantime he stopped producing figures in 1/72 and I have still some of them left.

Another friend of mine bought the moulds and the question is should we cast this figures again?
What do you think? See here the quality of some figures I still have left.

Austrian infantry. The last figure in the row by Ingo Gohlke

Bohemian legion of which I needed a full Batallion at the Aspern diorama

And finally several Austrian Landwehr figures, Salzburg, Styria or how it is called in English etc.

Again some new figures from Hagen

This week I got several photos from the guys in the group Jörg has painted his new sets of dismounted Hussars (remember we already have Chasseurst too).

Or here an adjuntant from his Lasalle staff set - but painted as an ADC of Soult and a hussar of the 2eme regiment.

Frank sent photos from his work on ancient sailors (very useful for my Zvedza ships:-))

Robert sent a set of Thomas' Samurais painted. I like the colour, like original armour.

And finally after a lot of mails I got from hobbyfriends who asked me about the figures - They are available - our first set in 28mm! You can order them here. If we are able to cover the costs of this set we will go into 28mm too.

The siege of Malta 1565

Over 10 years ago I was in the holidays at Malta. One of my most favourite tours. The whole Island is a museum. Our hotel was in Valetta, so just a five minutes walk until you are in the center of history.

I was able to buy several uniorm-plates from the siege of 1565 as well as Napoleons attack of 1798 (another idea for a small diorama:-))

Now I found a diorama from the Society for Scale Modellers - IPMS Malta - the siege itself in 1/72.

I must say I am very impressed by their work. See here some photos from their diorama
